Your Aerospace Engineering Experience

This course provides a real world insight into the atmosphere of our planet and the cosmos beyond, as well as the technologies needed to explore them. You will develop your analytical abilities whilst gaining hands-on experience of state-of-the-art equipment, vital to securing employment in the wider aerospace industry.

In your first year you can take a flying lesson and throughout your course will be working with facilities like the Merlin MPX521 Engineering Flight Simulator, the JetCat P120 Engine and multiple wind tunnels ensuring you are always fully up to speed.

Gain a thorough grounding in the science underpinning medicine with a degree in Applied Medical Sciences
You will study a comprehensive range of topics, including human anatomy and physiology, cell biology, genetics, pharmacology, and neuroscience, together with their clinical and applied relevance.

You will develop an in-depth understanding of how the human body works, what happens when it goes wrong, how we currently treat disorders, and the potential for novel therapeutics.

A degree in Applied Medical Science provides a comprehensive grounding relevant to careers in laboratory research, medicine and commercial enterprise in the life sciences. We have three employability strands to choose from in your second year (subject to eligibility): Medical Science in Practice, Enterprise and Innovation, and Medical Science in Research. These have been specially designed with experts to provide you with an insight into potential career options.

You will benefit from access to the Medical School's state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities, including the anatomy suite and research laboratories. Swansea University’s BSc in Applied Medical Sciences is one of the only undergraduate programmes of its kind in the UK that offers Year 1 students experience of cadaver-based anatomy. You will also join the Medical School’s dynamic research community when completing your final year research project.

This degree is part of our ‘Medical Science in Practice’ Pathway to Medicine programme. Provided you meet the minimum entry requirements for Graduate Entry Medicine, and have successfully completed the Pathway, you will be guaranteed an interview for our flagship Graduate Entry Medicine MBBCh course, which is consistently ranked top 5 in the UK.

Your Applied Medical Sciences Experience

You can choose to study Applied Medical Sciences as a 3-year BSc or as a 4-year degree with a year in industry in the form of a placement year.

Studying the 3-year BSc, you will undertake a mix of compulsory and optional modules, giving you the flexibility to tailor your degree to your particular interests, career ambitions, or plans for further study.

The 4-year programme offers an additional placement year between the second and final year, giving you the opportunity to experience work in industry, and allowing you to build confidence and gain real-world experience.

Applied Medical Sciences Employment Opportunities

With a strong entrepreneurial and innovation slant, our BSc in Applied Medical Sciences is ideal if you are interested in a career in emerging science, product development, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.

It also provides an excellent base for graduate entry into more clinically focused studies, including medicine, post-graduate research or Physician Associate Studies.

Our BSc Computer Science degree will teach you about computer graphics, computer systems modelling, software engineering, data visualisation, how to write mobile apps and some of the more advanced theoretical aspects of computer science. You will develop your programming skills in C and Java.

Zoology is at the core of our understanding of the natural world. Entry Requirements

We will offer flexibility while considering individual applications. Applications can be submitted before testing has been completed and we will make a conditional offer which can be confirmed once the exams are complete and results achieved.

• AP: 3 AP tests with a score of above 3 on each
• SAT: min 600 in each test

We can accept one Honours/College level class, with grade B or above, in place of one SAT/ACT/AP subject test

Please note that where a subject specific test result is needed to meet the academic requirements, it must be SAT/ACT/AP test (for example Maths is required for Engineering programmes)
