This Psychology BSc degree at Bangor University is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). This 'pure psychology' course will allow you to gain a scientific understanding of the basic processes by which we learn, think, feel and adapt to our social conditions.

The course covers the investigation of behaviour from infancy to old age, and deals with the biological, social and individual factors that affect human psychology. This course offers the widest choice of modules in the third year enabling you to tailor your study as your interests develop.

Marine Biology is the study of organisms that occupy 95% of the biosphere of our planet, living in conditions ranging from the polar seas (below -2℃) to hydrothermal vents (greater than 100℃). We are increasingly aware of the value of marine organisms for their role in influencing and indicating changes in our climate, for food, medicine and other products. The majority of the worlds species are found in the oceans; and range from the smallest micro-organism on the planet to the largest invertebrates such as giant squid and mammals like the blue whale.

This very popular course allows you to study the fundamental aspects of the biology of marine life as well as more specialised aspects such as aquaculture, fisheries and marine biotechnology.

Zoology is literally ‘all about animals’. On this zoology degree course you will receive a thorough grounding in 21st century zoology, exploring the diversity of animal form and function, and the evolution and ecology of the major animal groups.

Through a series of individual modules which offer an element of choice, you will gain sound and broad zoological training in both invertebrate and vertebrate zoology, including applied aspects such as behaviour, entomology, parasitology, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, and the interaction between animals and their environment.

History and Archaeology are complementary subjects that together inform wide-ranging interpretations of the past. From early Prehistory to the recent past, you will be able to choose from topics covering aspects of the history and archaeology of Wales, Britain, Europe and the wider world.

Through study of both documentary sources and material culture you will explore political, social and cultural aspects of the past and develop practical and transferable skills.

This course develops connections between critical study of English Literature and the creative practice of writing in a variety of forms. You will learn to approach texts as both a reader and a writer, discovering synergies between these different perspectives. You will study a broad range of English literature while developing your practical skills, confidence and independent vision as a creative writer.

This course offers the chance to develop skills in critical analysis and imaginative problem solving that are relevant to a range of career paths.

This joint course gives you the opportunity to explore the complexities of the world we live in through in-depth study of concepts, themes and perspectives relating to Sociology and Criminology/Criminal Justice. You will investigate social life, society and social intuitions, and examine theories and evidence relating to crime, offending behaviour, victimisation, social control, punishment and crime prevention.

By understanding the social world, we gain a better understanding of ourselves and our own social situations.

Undergraduate - 3 years

Undergraduate degrees at Bangor are 3 years, and are equivalent to US degrees. They are shorter than in the US as we do not require general education requirements. You are focused on one subject from the start, although you gain a broad knowledge of this specialised area. Many US students plan on staying for 4 years however, as our master's programs are 1 year; so in 4 years you can have your master's, nearly all of which are equal to master's in the US, but you're done in 4 years instead of 6-7. These degrees are highly respected worldwide, and will be equivalent to a US bachelor's degree.

The minimum we require for consideration is:

• Successful completion of High School Graduation Diploma with an unweighted GPA 3.0 or higher, or GED Pass (580/800)

And;

• 2 AP/Higher/Honours/DE/College-prep courses related to the subject you have chosen to Study at Bangor with a minimum grade C in each

Or;

• 2 completed semesters of community college classes

Or;

• ACT 26+ / SAT 1100

For US Veterans, we are also pleased to accept your MOS together with your High School Graduation Diploma or GED. However, each application is assessed individually. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us: international@bangor.ac.uk

Undergraduate Transfer Students

We can also accept transfer students who have completed one or two years at a community college or university. These applications are reviewed on a case by case basis and students generally transfer into year 1 or year 2 for the remainder of their degree. We request that you supply as much information as possible (transcripts, course descriptions, etc.) to assess at what level you have studied previously as UK undergraduate degrees are extremely specialised and focused. We need to ensure you've taken the appropriate courses prior to arrival in order to prepare you for the coursework at Bangor.

Studying Law at Bangor

Law students can apply directly to the Law programs at Bangor. There is no need for a previous undergraduate degree. Mature students

Students may be eligible for entry under the mature student regulations. This regulation does not require a bachelor degree. This rule does NOT apply for applicants for PhD studies, and entrants MUST have a taught postgraduate degree.
